  • Fully documented back to its discovery in the 1950's

The curve dash oldsmobile was the first mass produced gasoline automobile to be built in america, and was one of the most popular cars of the period. It was said to make one chug per telegraph pole. The light delivery Pie wagon produced for only 3 years carried one cubic yard of cargo, and cost $850 when new. Truly a fabulous piece of automotive history.

About the car:

This Curve Dash Oldsmobile light delivery Pie wagon, has documentation dating back into the 1940s. To our knowledge, this Cure dash is the only surviving documented example of the "Pie" wagon. This Oldsmobile has an extensive documentation file of history back to almost new.

This very rare light delivery curve dash Oldsmobile, was purchased by the famous brass car collector Tommy Protsman, in Tennessee in 1954 from Mrs Wilson. The Olds was in poor shape, but was obviously one of the only surviving Pie wagons Protsman had ever seen. He contracted George Green of Lambertsville NJ to do an extensive restoration back to show standards. George Green was and will always be the absolute authority on the Curve Dash Oldsmobile. His workmanship and knowledge of the curve dash was unmatched, and it is a testament to the incredible condition of this 50 plus year old restoration. This wonderfully Olds runs as a George Green restoration should. Green restored the car back to Oldsmobile standards and fitted it with the best proper brass era accessories from the Protsman collection. The collection of period accessories on it is, alone, highly rare and includes a set of Badger Brass Solar Model 56 kerosene headlights and a brass railing on the footboard with the Olds emblem integrated in it. After the exacting restoration the Oldsmobile earned its AACA National First Prize at Hershey in 1963 and its Senior National First Prize in June 1964. In July of 1965 it was on the cover of Antique Automobile magazine with a featured story. In the article George Green, who was very proud of the restoration said "It was one of the only curve dash's fitted with its original carburetor that worked better than his own" This rare car was one of the center pieces of the Protsman museum for almost 50 years.

The restoration still remains in fabulous condition and ready to show or participate in the London to Brighton run (act soon for 2009 London to Brighton). George Greens restoration still runs and drives as it did when it was net. The woodwork on the body is fabulous, with exquisite attention to details right down to its intricate brass and nickel hardware.

Not only is this one of the rarest examples of the curve dash Oldsmobile, and one of the cutest examples ever produced, it is fully documented from one of the finest collections in the country. Restored to perfection by a marquee specialist, this unique Oldsmobile will be one of the most unique and possibly only Pie wagon to go from London to Brighton.
