The mighty Pierce Arrow was one of Americas prominent producers of high quality automobiles. The mighty Model 36 Pierce Arrow was only produced for 3 years for a total of 1900 cars, most of which have not survived. In 1927 this was the absolute top of the Pierce Arrow line. A massive 100 HP 6 cylinder motor propelled this very attractive Enclosed Drive Limousine.
Incredible History from New!
The history of this ORIGINAL Pierce Arrow is truly incredible! Purchased new in Harbor Springs Michigan by Mrs. Sally Coleman for $6300 , it was stolen the day the car was delivered and not recovered until 8 years later in a brewery! The car was returned to the owner, but being an 8 year old used car at the time, Mrs. Coleman gave the car to her chauffeur. From 1936 till 2009, it was retained in the chauffeur's family.
A very unique close coupled Enclosed Drive Formal Limo, with a leather chauffeurs compartment including leather headliner, a roll up divider glass, and a formal rear compartment. The rear compartment is a blue cloth, with all 24kt gold interior hardware, limo speakers, silk shades on every window. The rear interior exhibits almost no damage, but does have sun fade and water damage. A good steam cleaning or maybe a fresh dye job could preserve this original interior. The roof is a padded leather top. and the car is fitted with double rear spares.
A number of boxes of spare parts are included with the car as well as lots of documentation.
The heart of the mighty model 36 pierce arrow is a 100bhp, 414 cu. in. T-head 24-valve twin-ignition six-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, solid front axle and live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, vacuum-boosted four-wheel mechanical brakes. It has not run in 3 years, but has the look of being a well maintained engine. We will be glad to get the car running for the new owner at an additional cost, or discuss a complete restoration.
A remarkable car with an even more remarkable history. The story which is well documented is as unique as the car. This wonderful Pierce represents a great preservation automobile that can be enjoyed as is or restored, but that decision will be up to it's third owner.
